I am developing an acoustic force spectroscopy tool aimed at investigating adhesion between synthetic cells and surfaces.
Hi, my name is Floor.
Previously, I completed my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Molecular Life Sciences at Wageningen University & Research, focusing on biophysics and physical chemistry. Throughout my studies, I developed a growing interest in how physical principles shape and influence biological systems.
Now, as a PhD student in the group of Gijs Wuite at VU Amsterdam, I am developing an acoustic force spectroscopy tool aimed at investigating adhesion between synthetic cells and surfaces. As the project progresses, this tool will be used to characterize and select synthetic adhesion receptors and their properties, such as adhesion strength and receptor density, using a high-throughput approach.
Outside the lab, I love being outdoors—especially sailing whenever I get the chance. On less favourable weather days, I enjoy watching a good movie, playing board games, or cooking something tasty.
