Meet Julie Muris
Julie Muris
During my PhD, I will test and design different DNA replication modules in E.coli to find a suitable replication system for the synthetic cell. After finding the most suitable replication system, this system will be evolved. Additionally, I will test and optimize different control strategies for this replication system.
Hi, my name is Julie Muris. Before starting my PhD, I have studied Molecular Life Sciences (BSc & MSc) and Biotechnology (MSc) at Wageningen University & Research. For my Master’s degrees I chose the molecular/cellular and medical specializations. During my studies, I have developed a strong interest in microbial genetics.
Now I have just started my PhD at the Laboratory of Microbiology of Wageningen University & Research under supervision of John van der Oost, Nico Claassens and Charlotte Koster. During my PhD, I will test and design different DNA replication modules in E.coli to find a suitable replication system for the synthetic cell. After finding the most suitable replication system, this system will be evolved. Additionally, I will test and optimize different control strategies for this replication system.
In my free time, I like to play tennis, cook nice dinners, play boardgames, go for drinks and organize fun activities for my friends.
