I will now be taking on this new challenge in the context of EVOLF, in which I will be focusing on the in vivo assembly and isolation of synthetic chromosomes from Saccharomyces cerevisiae under the supervision of Prof. Pascale Daran-Lapujade.
Hey there, my name is Dani!
About my background: I studied Biomedical Sciences (Bachelor’s) at Maastricht University and Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences (Master’s) at Utrecht University. It was during the latter that I cultivated my interest in microbiology, leading me to dedicate my Master’s studies primarily to the metabolic engineering of yeasts and filamentous fungi to develop novel sustainable bioprocesses for the production of palm oil and textile dyes in order to alleviate their current environmental burdens.
Departing from my applied microbiology background, I will now be taking on this new challenge in the context of EVOLF, in which I will be focusing on the in vivo assembly and isolation of synthetic chromosomes from Saccharomyces cerevisiae under the supervision of Prof. Pascale Daran-Lapujade. In doing so, I aim to establish yeast as a next-generation genome foundry for the synthetic cell.
Outside of science, I love being in the kitchen and hosting dinners for those dear to me. Aside from that, music has been a lifelong hobby of mine, specifically when it comes to my piano and guitar. I also enjoy reading and staying active by bouldering and running.
